Find a Job in Pakistan

Job hunting has always been a challenging task in Pakistan, especially for the fresh graduates who are new to the professional workforce. Because of domestic problems, Pakistan has failed to attract enough foreign investment to create new jobs to accommodate the needs of its rapidly increasing population. Because of the competitive nature of the job market, you have to take your search seriously in order to find a suitable position matching your skills and qualifications.

1. • Prepare several versions of your resume, depending on the types of jobs for which you are applying. Remember that a lot of people are applying for each job opening, and you need to align your resume closely with the job description to make sure that the recruiters take your profile seriously.

     Browse job sections of as many newspapers as possible. In Pakistan, almost every company advertises its job openings through newspapers, especially on Sundays. Sunday editions of Daily Jang, The News and Dawn contain several pages of new job listings. Visit your local library or buy these newspapers to go through their jobs advertisements.

     Subscribe to local online job portals to help you in your job search. Rozee and Naukri Junction are two large job portals in Pakistan. Fill out your registration form and become a regular visitor of these sites. Whenever you find a job ad related to your field and your qualifications, apply for it. You can apply online or send your resume directly to a human resources department if the company requires it, as indicated in its ads. Also, subscribe to the email alerts on these websites to ensure that no job opportunity is missed.

     Use your personal connections and references to get yourself noticed for job openings. Ask your connections to inform you about any career opportunities at their office. Try to build a professional network and stay in contact with its members for any opportunities that might arise.

In Pakistan, most private companies and government offices require you to go through an aptitude test, a technical test (if the job is technical in nature) and multiple interviews. Make sure that you study well for technical interviews and read your school course books again to refresh your knowledge about the topics being asked in the technical tests.
