Although we are going through an economic crisis, there is still a need for certified pharmacy technicians. While the rate of unemployment is the highest it has ever been, the field of pharmaceuticals is booming. With this high demand for medical professional in the pharmacy industry, comes a plethora of pharmacy technician jobs. While many have given up on their search for employment, with the right training and knowledge landing a tech job is easier than you may think even during this turbulent economy. If you have gone through the proper channels to receive training and certification, there are pharmacies looking for you. Consider following these tips to secure a well-paying position.
Make a list of large retailers in your area with a pharmacy department. Organizations like Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Savon, Walmart, and Target are consistently hiring. While every large retailer has a jobs section on their official website, consider contacting the recruiting supervisor and asking about employment opportunities. Persistence is the key to getting an interview. Fax your resume even if they are not hiring so you are first to come to mind when they are.
Many overlook the need for pharmacy technicians within hospitals. Most hospitals have their own pharmacy department and need a high quantity of technicians. Because of this, it is very common for multiple positions to be posted online or in your local newspaper. Contact the HR department of the hospital and request the name of the supervising authority for hiring in pharmacy. Forward your resume and make sure to follow up.
Check job postings on career websites such as Monster and Careerbuilder. You can also post your polished resume online and be sure to list all of your education background, experience and certifications. Most pharmacies are looking for a technician with a certification and training. Also browse through listings on the nation jobs database entitled Elite Pharmacy Job Career Board. These boards are updated daily and new jobs come and go quickly.
The pharmaceutical field is growing and is forecast to continue growing in the upcoming years. Receive your training and become a technician so you will have peace of mind and job security.
